Twenty four states moved their primary date to February 5th this year because it was the earliest possible date the two major political parties would allow them to do so. These states wanted a say - the nominees have recently been decided very early on in the process. But why does this all take place on a Tuesday? Most voting in this country takes place on a Tuesday. Jacob Soboroff, Executive Director of Why Tuesday says this is a form of voter disenfranchisement.
