Apr. 21, Interview - Polls show both Democratic candidates could beat McCain in a general
election, but who will get to run against him is not yet certain as long as
two candidates stay in the Democratic race. Election Unspun producer Karen
Miller spoke with Michael Hagen, Political Scientist and director of Temple
University's Institute for Public Affairs about the state of the race in the
Keystone state.
"Philadelphia is overwhelmingly in favor of Senator Obama. And the urban
portions of Allegheny County are in favor of Senator Obama as well. Senator Clinton
has very strong support in rural Pennsylvania, and in some of the smaller
cities. And it's people in places like the suburbs around Philadelphia who
are going to be making a more difficult choice."
"Its actually older white males, who are most conspicuously on the fence.
Who have fairly positive feelings toward both candidates, but not more positive
feelings toward either of them. And they oddly enough, are the people who it
seems are going to be, having to make up their minds over the next few
days - and may well settle the election."
