California is the biggest prize on Super-Tuesday; and Latinos make up a huge percentage of the Democratic Party in California. Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are doing everything they can to woo the Latino vote. In the Nevada Caucuses last month Clinton was propelled to victory by winning the sizable Latino vote by a 62 to 26 margin. Following Nevada, political pundits began referring to the Latino vote as Hillary Clinton's "firewall;" something that Obama's surging candidacy could not overcome.

The endorsement of one of California's most influential Latina's, Dolores Huerta, the legendary UFW organizer and long time Hillary supporter, helped move Clinton's popularity among Latino's right along, looking as if Clinton was unstoppable in the community. But then another of California's key Latina's stood behind Barack Obama. Maria Elena Durazo, the head of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, proved that Obama was not marginalized among Latinos. Latino Solidaridad The two powerful women find themselves in different camps trying to persuade their followers to join them.

Both women were recently interviewed on KPFK Radio Los Angeles on the "Pocho Hour of Power," a popular talk-show hosted by nationally syndicated political cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz. They were asked to explain why their respective endorsements.
