Mar. 19, Interview - The US's dependency on oil and its effects on a new President's Iraq plan remains unanswered. But Steve Kretzmann and Trina Zahller from PriceOfOil.org try to give some insight.

They track the correlation between big oil votes, big oil contributions and how politicians vote on Iraq. Election Unspun producer, Karen Miller spoke to them about the price of oil in this year's presidential election.

" What we see is, perhaps not surprisingly, those people who take more money from the oil industry, tend to vote against clean energy, against strong action on climate change, and for the war. And that holds even within the parties, for Democrats and Republicans, those people who take more oil money, tend to vote worse on those issues that we care a lot about."

"In the most recent bill, to appropriate funding for the war in Iraq, not a single Senator voted against those war appropriations. And so, even though we have Clinton and Obama speaking about withdrawal of troops, neither of them are actually taking steps right now, and actually translating that into votes, in the Senate - nor is McCain."
