August 15 - Each week, KPFK News Director Patrick Burke brings together an unusual panel of guests to talk about election issues. He invites a Republican and a Democratic strategist or official in studio with an organizer from outside the two mainstream parties. This week, Patrick spoke with Independent Vice Presidential Candidate Matt Gonzalez and Democratic strategist Bill Carrick by phone. Republican Jewish Coalition representative Larry Greenfield was in the studio.

July 15 - Continuing on with our coverage of the Green Party, as they just nominated Cynthia McKinney to be their presidential nominee, we're going to take a look at her political career. She is a passionate activist who has gone through some controversy.

July 14 - The Green Party has chosen Cynthia McKinney to be the party's presidential nominee. The choice was clear after the first round of balloting in Chicago. McKinney, the former US Representative of Georgia, won more than 300 of the 500 delegate votes available.

July 11 - As the Green Party Presidential nominating convention has begun in Chicago, we're going to take a look at the 4 candidates. They all with vastly different backgrounds, all offering an alternative to the major parties.

July 10 - Today is the start of the Green Party's Political Convention. In Chicago, Illinois, the party's Presidential nominee will be decided among 4 Presidential, including front runner former US Representative of Georgia, Cynthia McKinney and her running mate, Rosa Clemente, Activist, Organizer and Journalist. Former Green Presidential candidate and Professor at Morgan State University, Jared Ball, says this convention marks an exciting time for American politics.

July 2 - Next week is the Green Party's National Convention. In Chicago, Illinois, Greens will choose their Presidential Candidate. After primaries in 28 states, the nominee is likely to be former US Representative of Georgia Cynthia McKinney. But beyond choosing a Presidential nominee, the Green Party will be compiling their national platform.

June 16 - Ralph Nader, Independent candidate for President is busy securing his place on state ballots for the 2008 election. He successfully achieved access on the ballot of a fourth state, Colorado. His goal – to be on 40 states ballots.

June 10 - Last fall, while the presidential hopefuls from the two major parties were gearing up for a season of primary elections, the Socialist Party USA chose their 2008 presidential nominee. He's Brian Moore, of Spring Hill, Florida, just north of Tampa. But, as Seán Kinane reports, being the nominee of a minor party does not necessarily mean you'll voters will get to vote for him or her.

Apr. 17, Interview - As the debate was for the battle for the Democratic nomination, we turn to a response from the a Green Party Presidential Candidate, Cynthia McKinney.

For a political party whose preamble says all individuals are sovereign over their own lives and no one is forced to sacrifice his or her values for the benefit of others, will members joining from different ends of the political spectrum change the focus.

Mar. 28, Feature - Former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel has had an unsuccessful run for the Democratic Presidential nomination. He has barely raised any money and has failed to garner much media attention, often shut out of debates.

Mar. 24, Feature - Today we look at third party candidates running for President. Brian Moore is running on the Socialist Party of America's ticket. The Socialist Party maintains its stance against for-profit corporations and for worker run companies.

Mar. 24, Interview - Now we turn to Libertarian candidate Wayne Allyn Root. A small business owner, a millionaire, which he likes to remind people of, and television host. Root is considered the front runner among the 11 libertarians hoping for the nomination. He joins us on the phone from his home Las Vegas, Nevada, where he talks about the recent economic crisis.

Feb 25, Feature - For the third time, Ralph Nader has entered the Presidential fray. He has launched his platform based on 12 issues, they include: single payer health care, the repeal of anti-union laws, opposition to nuclear power, support for a carbon pollution tax, impeachment of Bush and Cheney, and the crackdown on corporate crime.

Feature, Feb 20 – In yesterday's Wisconsin primary, nearly 55 percent of voters define themselves as independent, not affiliated with a particular party. Wisconsin mirrors many states this primary season that have a seen a rise in independent voter registration and participation.
