July 2 - Next week is the Green Party's National Convention. In Chicago, Illinois, Greens will choose their Presidential Candidate. After primaries in 28 states, the nominee is likely to be former US Representative of Georgia Cynthia McKinney. But beyond choosing a Presidential nominee, the Green Party will be compiling their national platform.

July 1 - During the 2004 Presidential election, Rock the Vote was one of many voter education campaigns that became prominent among youth. Although non-partisan, much of the success of youth voter turn out had to do with the hopes of unseating George Bush. 2008 candidate Barack Obama has been able to grow youth excitement around this years' election even more.

A Look At the Election Assistance Commission

June 24 - Four years ago, Congress passed the Help America Vote Act to try to avoid election problems like the 2000 Florida recount. Part of that bill included the creation of the Election Assistance Commission. The Commission is charged with overhauling election guidelines and reporting on ballot issues in federal elections.
